About Us

About Us

Welcome To Central Christian School

We are so excited that you are interested in our school!

Central Christian is a discipleship style, college preparatory, Christian school that offers a traditional approach to education for students in grades Kindergarten 4 through the 12th grade. Our goal is to raise the next generation of Christian leaders so that we can pass on the Christian heritage to future generations.

As you continue to explore our web site, we know that you will agree that CCS is the right choice, the right fit, and the right price for your family. Please feel free to contact us directly if you have any other questions or need further information about any aspect of our school. Tours and class shadowing are available upon request by appointment. We look forward to hearing from you.

At first glance, that may seem like a strange statement to make. You may be saying, “I certainly hope they teach my kids to count”. But we are talking about a different kind of counting. At CCS, our philosophy of education is to teach our students to count to 3. We are determined to keep these priorities in this order.

The decisions we make in life determines who and what we will become. Life’s tough questions are made so much easier when we are led by a guiding philosophy. Decisions are best made by establishing priorities during training – not waiting until the pressures of the battlefield.

At Central Christian, godly character is number one. We are not an outreach or rehabilitation program for students with character problems. Our mission is to partner with parents who are developing strong character in their children. We truly believe that it is more important for kids to value Christ-like character than anything else.

We have a strong commitment to academic excellence. By limiting the size of our classes, following a curriculum that challenges students, and hiring teachers who know how to teach and communicate effectively, our students consistently score well on achievement tests. We want to prepare students for the college they desire to attend.

Our commitment to excellence permeates everything we do. Our teachers are provided the tools to give students an ideal environment in which to excel.

Every child needs involvement in an extracurricular discipline. We urge parents to steer their children toward one or more of our many programs. Offerings include but are not limited to music, drama, clubs, art, yearbook, and journalism. Intramural sports and cheerleaders for the lower grades and individual sports and cheerleaders for the upper school are available. Our athletic complex includes baseball, softball, and football fields and a 7,500 sq ft gymnasium for our basketball and volleyball teams.

Each year the school produces a high school play and a school wide music and art show. One of the highlights of the year is our annual Christian for the Family program in December.

Our Story

Central Christian School was founded in 1965 in East Point, Georgia (formerly Central Christian Schools). When we opened our doors in September, we became only the fourth Christian school ministry in the state of Georgia. Beginning with the kindergarten program that year, we soon started adding grade levels that eventually resulted in our very first graduating class in May of 1974.

Dr. Robert McCurry, founder of our Christian school firmly believed that because of the changing beliefs and philosophies of the public school systems, that included removing prayer from the public schools in the early 1960’s, that Christians had to face squarely their responsibility in not only providing a quality education for their children, but providing a quality Christian education for their children. For years, Dr. McCurry devoted his vision, talents, and skill to building what we know today as Central Christian School.

During the years, the school has used three main campuses. The first facility was located on two acres at 1130 Cleveland Avenue in East Point, Georgia. This property was purchased in 1958. The building was a modest rectangular structure with classrooms/Sunday School rooms in the basement. Including the sanctuary, the building had approximately 4000 square feet of space. The building served us well until 1967.

In 1965, 4.5 acres of land was purchased at 2560 Sylvan Road in East Point, Georgia, for the enlargement of the ministry. This location was about two miles from the old building. The new facilities totaled approximately 17,000 square feet . These facilities were opened in July of 1968. During the next twenty years, the school enjoyed its greatest growth, becoming not only one of Georgia’s oldest Christian schools, but also one of Georgia’s largest Christian schools with more than 400 students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade.

During the Spring of 1988, forty-seven acres of property were purchased at 3613 Hwy 34 East in Sharpsburg, Georgia, in Coweta County. This property was approximately 40 miles south of the East Point location. The property was purchased for approximately $315,000.00. Facilities were quickly built totaling more than 50,000 square feet. During this time of transition, God graciously met all of our needs. As a result, we were able to occupy the new facilities in October of 1988 debt free. To this day, the facility remains debt free.

Although we are certainly proud and grateful to God for what he has done for us in the past, we have now turned our full and complete attention to the future. With a growing community and a convenient location between Newnan and Peachtree City, we are looking forward to expanded opportunities, expanded vision, and expanded expectations of what God will do for us in the future.

We invite all of you to become a part of this exciting venture with us.

Our Vision

The vision of Central Christian School is to provide an outstanding spiritual and educational environment where, working with Christian families and churches, all students will be thoroughly prepared to fulfill God’s purpose for their lives.

Our Mission & Objectives

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to teach all academic subjects as God’s truth. For example, science, math, history, and English are all studies of the world that God created. Only the Christian school is free to recognize God’s central place in creation, history, and education, and thus to impart education that is not undermined by a humanistic philosophy which denies the very foundation of truth.

Our Mission

The mission of Central Christian School is to glorify God through the discipleship of students and the pursuit of excellence in education with the Bible as our foundation and Jesus Christ as our focus.

Our Words

Tradition – Excellence – Commitment – Opportunity

Our Motto

“Excellence…Our habits push us past mediocrity into the realm of distinction”

Statement of Faith

We Believe the Holy Bible to be the inspired, only infallible, authoritative Word of God (2 Peter 1:21, 2 Tim 3:15).

We Believe in the one God, existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19, John 1030).

We Believe in the deity of Jesus Christ (John 10:33).
His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23).
His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15, Hebrews 7:26).
His miracles (John 2:11).
His vicarious and atoning death (Ephesians 1:7, 1 Corinthians 15:3).
His resurrection (John 11:25).
His ascension to the right hand of the father (Mark 16:19).
His personal return in power and glory (Acts 1:11, Revelation 19:11).

We Believe in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of the human nature, and that individuals are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ and that only by God’s grace and through faith alone are we saved (John 3:16-19, Roman 3:23, Romans 5:8-9, Ephesians 2:8-10).

We Believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: they are saved unto the resurrection of life and they are lost unto the resurrection damnation (John 5:28-29).

We Believe in the spiritual unity of believers of our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 12:12-13).

We Believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the believer is able to live a godly life (Romans 8:13-14, Ephesians 4:30, Ephesians 5:18).

We Believe that prayer is vitally important to undergird the oneness we have in Christ.

We Believe that parents are the primary educators of their children.

We Believe that the school should partner with parents to provide a Christian education for their child. Compromises are not made with relation to scripture.

We Believe that the Bible and religious training are a part of every aspect of daily training of the Christian school program.

We Believe that gender identity is exclusively heterosexual involving one man and one woman (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, Exodus 20:14).

We Believe that homosexuality is a violation of scripture (Romans 1:21-27).

We Believe that premarital or extramarital sexual intimacy, heterosexual, homosexual, or bisexual violates scripture (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, Exodus 20:14).

We Believe that the sanctity of life begins at conception and that an unborn child at any stage of development is fully human and should be treated as such (Jeremiah 1:5).

Special Note: This brief Statement of Faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired, infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and conduct, is the sole and final authority of all that we believe. For the purposes of Central Christian School’s faith, doctrine, policies, and discipline, the Board of Trustees and Leadership Team are the final interpretive authority of the Bible’s meaning and application.

Why Choose Central Christian School

Dear Parent(s),

Welcome to Central Christian School. We are honored to share the Central Christian story with you, and are humbled at the great work God is doing in the lives of our families, students and staff. We offer the best Christian education and the lowest tuition in our area. Knowing that you have choices in the school you will select for your child’s education, you may be asking, “Why choose Central Christian School?”. I want to share with you just a few of the many reasons why we offer the best education in a Christian environment for your child.

1. A Christian education that permeates all we do

We provide a Christian education for every student. That education means many things:

  1. Daily Bible study – Students in kindergarten through twelfth-grade participate in daily Bible study. The Bible study is based on an excellent curriculum that provides every student age-appropriate lessons that deepen their understanding of God’s Word.
  2. Chapel – All students participate in chapel every week. Fifth grade students lead worship each Wednesday in the elementary chapel. High school students lead chapel each Thursday with the older students. These chapels are well-planned, and provide worship time and speakers who challenge every student to deepen their walk with Christ.
  3. Biblical World View – Our master teachers teach from curriculum that supports a Biblical world view. Coursework enables students to see God’s hand at work from the forming of our nation to the forming of our bodies.

2. Smaller class sizes

Research supports the importance of, and connection between, small class size and student achievement. Small class size means a smaller pupil-teacher ratio and more individualized instruction.  Small class sizes enable teachers to individualize instruction and provide one-on-one help when needed.

3. Rigorous college-prep curriculum

At Central, we focus on educating the heart as well as the mind. Students are well-prepared for college upon graduation. From phonics in Kindergarten to Honors Calculus in twelfth grade, students take courses that prepare them for the rigors of a college education. In addition, teachers are available every day from 3:00-3:40 to provide extra help for students who need extra support with their course work.

4. Instructional Technology

The use of instructional technology continues to grow at CCS. Just one example is the use of promethean technology. Promethean technology provides teachers with cutting edge instructional tools at their finger-tips. Promethean boards enhance instruction and enable what is taught to move to a child’s long term memory. In addition, teachers are able to use Promethean Planet to share instructional techniques with teachers all over the world.
Teachers also have ActivExpressions at their disposal. ActivExpression devices enable students to answer questions on a device that looks like a cell phone. Their answer appears on the promethean board and teachers can see if students missed an answer and what part of the wrong answer confused them. The device provides real time feedback and provides formative assessment to assess learning.
Finally, students in kindergarten through fourth grade have Android tablets to use in enhancing instruction, reading an enormous assortment of children’s books, and review games that reinforce classroom instruction.

5. Dual Enrollment

We hand-schedule every student to match their educational needs with a focus toward success in college. Part of that schedule can include dual enrollment classes for students who qualify. We partner with six universities and colleges to help students receive both college and school credit for attending these courses. Not only do students earn college credit, but there are numerous benefits of applying to colleges for admission with existing college credit through dual enrollment. Many colleges give preference to students who have already earned college credit and demonstrated that they can handle the rigors of college.

6. Accreditation

It is essential that you select an accredited school for your child to attend. Central is not only accredited, but has reached the status of Accredited With Quality by the Georgia Accrediting Commission. The quality status is bestowed because of our rigorous college preparatory curriculum, highly qualified teachers, and institutional excellence. It means that a diploma from CCS is recognized by universities all over our nation as well as the Georgia Board of Education, the Georgia Board of Regents, and the Hope Scholarship Commission.

7. Developing the whole child

Regular course work is only the beginning at Central Christian. Students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade are provided courses that go beyond the normal school offerings. Elementary students enjoy weekly classes in Spanish, Art, Music, Media, and Physical Education. Upper grade students select elective courses in daily offerings that include a wide variety of options including Journalism, Photography, Art, Music, Physical Education, Drama, Yearbook, and S.A.T. Prep.

8. Individualized Learning Plan

Our small class sizes enable us to use student achievement test data to track student achievement. Students take the Stanford Achievement Test from kindergarten through high school. Test results are disaggregated thoroughly and reviewed with teachers. Data will then be used by every teacher to provide remediation or enrichment based on each child’s achievement.

9. Communication

Small class sizes play an important role in communication with every parent. Parents can track their child’s progress electronically with RenWeb. Parents can also access teachers by phone or e-mail with questions about their child’s progress. Parent-teacher conferences are always welcomed.

10. Competitive athletic program

Attending a small school is a huge benefit to students interested in competitive sports. Small schools offer the opportunity to compete and excel, where attending a larger school may lead to limited playing time or not “making” a team at all. Our athletic program is strong and in the past three years has led to 1 National Championship, 9 State Championships, 6 Region Championships, and 8 State Runner-up finishes. Your child can be part of this winning tradition!
Playing at a small school does not limit great athletes desiring scholarships to colleges. Colleges from all divisions recruit great athletes regardless of their school affiliation. In addition, our athletic department provides appropriate contact with college coaches when students are particularly gifted in a sport. Younger students in grades kindergarten through sixth grade enjoy Elementary Team sports in basketball, soccer, and cheerleading. There is something for everyone at Central Christian School!

11. A Bright Future!

God’s Word tells us that “where there is no vision the people perish”. At Central, God has given us a clear vision for the future. We invite your family to become part of that future.

Central Christian School is a special place for special people. We are one of the oldest private schools in Georgia for a reason. Over 50 years of excellence motivates us to continue to improve every day. Come join us on the journey to educate the heart as well as the mind.
